25 Random Things About Me

Here are 25 Random Things about me in no particular order.

1)  I love the Mountains, but don’t get there enough.

2)  I love my Family

3)  I turn 50 in March

4)  I just started my first blog

5)  Reading blogs is one of my favorite things.

6)  I am addicted to Pinterest

7)  I love running on my treadmill listening to my Ipod.  I feel so good after.

8)  I get up at 5:30 in the morning everyday.  (even weekends)

9)  Mornings are my favorite time of day.

10)  I need to clear out my borderline hoarder craft room this year and clear out  not started, unfinished and projects that no longer inspire me.

11)  Roses are my favorite flower (They can be tricky to grow in Alberta)  I wish I could have the beautiful climbers, sadly they don’t do well here due to cold winters.

12)  I live in Calgary Alberta Canada.  I purchase 1 plant every year from the not guaranteed to survive section in the greenhouse just to see.  Lat year it was a Wisteria that said okay for zone 4.  Keeping my fingers crossed for this spring.

13) I love it in the spring when a plant that should not have survived does.  That is very exiting for me.

14)  Purchased 35 meters of white linen last year to slipcover my sofa and loveseat.  Have been to scared to do anything with it yet.

15)  Need to try the dropcloth version first shown on Miss Mustardseeds blog.  If I make a mistake it not so costly, and will give me more confidence with the linen.

16)  I love pets and animals.  For many years we have had 2 cats (Siamese, sadly they were old and have passed.  I miss them) 2 dogs (Boxer and Bishon Shiatsu ) and a year ago an Eastern collared lizard.  Always said I would never have something that ate bugs, how did this happen?

17)  I never scream when I get scared, I only jump.

18)  I love my renovated kitchen and need to do a post about it.  Luckily I took before during and after pictures .

19)  My favorite thing to wear is a t-shirt and jeans.

20)  I love boots.  If I go to buy shoes I always end up looking at the boots.  I don’t own any cowboy boots, but love some of the ones shown on Pinterest, maybe I should buy a pair this year.

21) I am 1/4 Swedish.  It is a dream of mine to travel there someday.  I would love to bring home a Mora clock.  (just dreaming I am sure shipping would be crazy expensive)

22) I have 3 sons 1has applied for Medical School , 1 is a 3D Animator, and 1 is still in High School

23) I have always been a stay at home mom, or a Domestic Engineer, (thats sounds better)

24) I am so grateful for all of my friends and my closest girlfriends that I have know since grade 4 and 6.  We all still live here and keep in touch.

25) Spring is my favorite season, I love seeing the plants come back to life after a cold winter.

  1. You sound like a great mom…now please do something with that linen (perhaps you are waiting for the youngest to go to college).

  2. Welcome to blogging!
    XO
    Kristin

  3. Lana,
Thanks for your input on my post! I can see that we have a lot of things in common! I will be 49 in July, have 3 children, 1 girl 27, 2 boys 25 & 23, a morning person, stay at home Mom. I, too, love boots, jeans and a T shirt, hiking in the mountains, pinterest, and blogs! Have piles of French linen, but have yet to make a slip cover!!
Although I love roses, I think peonies and hydrangeas are my all time favorite. Have you tried the explorer series? I have a couple of John Cabot climbers that after 3 years are almost climbing over my arbor!
    Looking forward to more posts!

    Cindy

    • HI Cindy,
      Thank you for the comment.
It is so nice finding other people through blogging that have the same interests,. I have tried one of the John Cabot climbers. It is still fairly new in my yard, but last year made it halfway up my willow arbor in my backyard.
I saw a new peony on Pinterest called Sorbet. I want to find one of these this year. I also have a huge white Hydrangea called Annabelle in my front yard. It is to cold here to have the beautiful blue ones survive the winter. I will do a post about my yard this year.

  4. So this is a wordpress site I am assuming. I wish I had just started on wordpress so I wouldn’t be facing the switch over in a few weeks, but it is what it is. Congrats on the start. I’m a new linky follower. You already have 12 so you are moving along. Getting readers is a slow process, but it will happen. Hang in there and let’s stay in touch.

    • Thank you Anita,
Good luck with the move. I am happy I chose wordpress over blogger. I just need to get busy and get posting.

  5. Hi Lana,

I really want to thank you for being so nice and leaving such a supportive comment yesterday. I really appreciate that.

I loved getting to know you better. :-)

  14. Hello Lana,
    You have a lovely blog : )
It was interesting to read about you. I like that you try a new plant each year that is a challenge. What a neat thing to do!
    Hugs,
    Terri

  15. Welcome to the world of blogging! I’m a March b-day too and cracking up about the fact that you never scream when startled!!
Getting up at 5:30 every morning will certainly help your blogging – wish I was that disciplined (I am not a morning person)!
    Kelly

    • Hi Kelly,
Thank you for the comment. I have always just been a morning person except when I was a teenager. I can’t stay up late at night though, I am tired by 10:30.

  16. I also turned 50 in march and have three sons and siamese cats.
    Blog again!!

    • Hi Phyllis,
Wow, we have a lot in common. I do plan on posting some projects I have done around my house. I have been really busy this summer, but will get back to doing some posts for September.

  17. Good evening Lana! What a brilliant post! I too love boots and you absolutely must take your scissors to that white linen! Warmest wishes from this old farmhouse in England – Glenda

    • Hi,
      Thank you for commenting.
Yes, I know I have to be brave with that Linen. I have been really busy this summer, but hopefully I can get to that this fall and do some post about it.
